miami-dade nature playgrounds

I was selected as design lead Landscape Architect for additions of proposed playgrounds at Modello Park and Sgt. Joseph DeLancey Park. Both locations introduced nature-play themed playgrounds, implementing current design ideologies as directed by Miami-Dade County PROS (Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces). Some of the unique design initiatives include repurposing invasive trees into “play elements”, providing quality experience for disabled users, and incorporating indigenous materials such as limestone and plants as didactic teaching opportunities. Limestone quarried from the site was shaped and introduced as topography throughout the playground. Contemporary playground equipment contrasts natural hardscape material for visual effect. Plant pallet is inspired from Miami's once prevalent native plant communities.
